Paper Chase.

I hate paperwork and yet I don’t seem able to get rid of it. I have had numerous decluttering attempts over the last few years. I have shredded it until my shredder gave up. I have burned it in an incinerator bin in the garden, until the neighbours complained. I have torn it up by hand before throwing it in the recycling bin.

However no matter how hard I try to get rid of it, more seems to arrive to replace it. It’s a relentless paper blizzard. Perhaps I should give it a name like “ Storm Paper-chase ”.

Where does it all come from? Most of it is unsolicited, in other words I didn’t ask for it, it just turned up one day. Letters suggesting I might want to buy some totally new product at a one time bargin price. Or invitations to sell my house, or insulate it, or paint it, or reroof it.

Next there is the true “ junk mail “. Stuff I would never buy. Glossy brochures with no prices. All directed to me by a poorly crafted data base, hopelessly fishing for a bite. Often addressed to “ the occupier”, as if I am a squatter in my own home. All this stuff can go straight in the bin.

So what’s the answer? Perhaps I should be more positive 😀 learn to love paper, even encourage more by ticking every box that suggests you’re interested in receiving more information. That will keep the post office in business.

Roll it up into little flammable paper balls stored in what used to be the coal shed. The in the cold winter nights have a fire in chimney grate like they did in the old days.

Just don’t tell the climate change people!!!!!!!!

  1. excellent????? More electronic paper? from this old tinned ‘fart’ At Least it is not all ‘balls’!!!!

  2. Excellent piece to repeat my self, I can play Ball { any game you like-Bowls, football, past the parcel, of give cocoa something to chase.] There again I can light my fires keep warm, practice my green thoughts and ideals -recycling trees the only low carbon solution.
Then I can practice my spring cleaning decluttering rooms in the house, hanging new wall paper and generally decorating, everything nice and fresh! Wonderful.
As for the mind shattering BUMF Mail, and anything to offer or buy, nothing has changed in this up to date modern electronic world? What I could do with paper was file it and store it like a library to read another day. With the modern websites and computers my fingers are delicate but clumsy and I find the interfering ‘blog notices,’ on to my web pages disturbing, and when I go to remove them I remove the message/ information I wish to keep=print off and file?? HEE HEE???
I am just overwhelmed by the modern websites and the internet information, and I enjoy the old fashioned book and morning press where I can insert a mark and leave and return hours later to recap on my thoughts! They are not all transient,

  3. last nights news on ITY at 1800 was like a dirge, KING CHarles has Cancer, not prostrate Cancer??? and all then the diatribe of not what if? But that it was terminal- ‘GOD SAVE THE KING’ it was not educational, informative or adult! IT was a completely emotional report, which I could not accept with respect, loyalty and admiration for the CROWN,
This country is going to the dogs, all the news bulletins, political-UK worldwide, are all delivered in an emotional style? I find it difficult to make a decision about the media and the Government on how they deliver the ‘NEWS;. WE are expected to be intelligent and adult, yet all we are given is childish emotions as to our future,
Who will save us as a nation, certainly not Charles, BODJ, RISHI and or ‘STAMMER-Hammer/ It is all ‘HOGWASH’

  4. Dear John!!! a letter with that heading, but an electronic copy?? How are you, the month of February is proceeding, and I cannot remember when we all need to celebrate the event of your birthday, when you become that day older, and maybe a little wiser in your paperchase??? Molly and I send you all the best for your birthday, and trust that ‘YOU MO and Cocoa’ not forgetting your family, do not send up too much smoke when you blow out the celebration candles- A magic Number, or a passing day?? do let us know. Regards David Molly.
