My last post complained about the mountain of paper that you accumulate in a lifetime. It’s an Everest !
But, of course there is a modern way of dealing with it. Just do all your business on line. The much heralded paperless office.
Put it all up in the clouds. No filing cabinets. No shredders. No waste paper bins full of paper. No bins. No offices, now we are all working from home. Magic ! Why didn’t I think of that before ?
Just a few unanswered questions ????? :——
- Where do they send all the ‘junk mail” ? I suppose it could go on-line too. But then the Royal Mail will probably go out of business.
- What about all the astute techie scammers lurking in the clouds ?. They will be reading all my mail, searching for an opportunity to con me about something.
- What if there is no need for a recycling bin collection anymore ? That may put half the bin men out of work.
- Will we just have to ignore some people – especially older people – who are not on-line ? The banks won’t mind, they are trying to do that anyway. The Government might realise too late that older people vote, although the opposition parties may be happy to disenfranchise them.
- What happens to your annual tax return ? If you can’t / won’t do it on-line, the tax man will fine you £100 a day until you give in or go to jail. Then the prisons will be full and the Government will lose a lot of revenue.
- How about when the next census is due ? People with no paper forms will cease to exist and the population of the UK will decline to less than 50 million. That will open the door to more immigration, provided they can use a smart phone to apply for a visa.
Who would have thought that getting rid of all that paper might have so many consequences?

Make paper disappear??
Ah! Yesterday working for a living, home was where one forgot all the daily worries and responsibilities of work and relaxed with one family? YES???
I just wonder, watching the ‘BOX’ and Homes under the Hammer yesterday I was intrigued by a modern conversion of a 2 up 2 down Back to back house. My mind was in pieces, where oh where, or what was the size of the rooms, and where in the yard had the ‘NETTIE’ gone too’??? I just wonder-Flushed away in our thoughts of modern living? Remember the 5 minutes of peace and quiet reading yesterday’s news in pieces as it hung on the nail, ready to be used to wipe away the detritus and be flushed down the loo.
Never mind with the modern ‘cloud’ saving, system of filing information, and all those multi-passwords to deter the ‘scammers’ of modern society, to an olde like me I am at a loss with all these passwords, and credit cards that just scan, and need no pin number to keep ones mind active, a receipt-less society, it is just at the month end, if one remembers to get an account statement does reality, and then one ’FILLS ONES DRAWS’ with all those unreceipted transactions? My pension has disappeared. Oh My God!!! And my savings are been eaten into. Still never mind I live in dreamland- not the LOTTO and Euro lottery winnings if there are any, but my old national savings premium bonds, do they turn up a winner? Not so far; the modern political scene and government of the day have somehow washed away my original numbers and expect me to nationally be a betting man, and join the lottery crowd!!! We as society have become a lot of gamblers and the government a load of bookmakers literally, creating now not paper by cloudless, nameless voters who just pass on their saving and earnings to the ultra-rich, in this the political world of our modern society.
Am I mixed up yes like a dolly mixture bits and pieces and sugary to taste with lots of colour!! SenSe yes but nonsense NO! I still feel for my family and our friends and our general well-being.

make paper disappear, and use money-NOTES-? modern ones are of a manmade fabric, very green? But there again not wasteful or expensive,
wait a minute, a Chinese puzzle, for the Chinese new year, do i use paper. card or the internet and a computer, that once received can eliminate the best wishes by the press of a button. But never mind today i gobbled my pancakes, sugar and syrup, putting weight on, so now I am immobile for a moment while i rested in the chair, digesting and enjoying the feast.
However I am still ranting and raving, and go back to my old ways tomorrow wednesday 14th feb, where I intend to send my loved one a mysterious card, wishing them my love and devotion, no web based message that they can delete by the push of a button, but by a practical action, of posting the message on the sideboard/mantle piece, bring a smile to their face reminding of my TRUE LOve after all these years, of adoration.
Not Green with envy but red with feeling and warmth with love! Great!!!
