May Elections?

What shall I do in May? Who shall I cast my precious vote for?

How can I in some small way change the world? Or at the very least change some small part of it?

I have been following President Tramp’s every twist and turn for the last few weeks, but I doubt he knows I even exist. So my vote won’t end the war in Ukraine, nor stop the fighting in Gaza. I even doubt if it will have much impact on the world economy.

Perhaps I should turn my attention to Mr Stammer who keeps saying he has been very clear, but I haven’t heard him mention Kilsby once! Maybe the pile of bins in Birmingham have put him off mentioning anything local.

So I should set my sights even lower. What can I do to influence Daventry District Council? They have been Conservative for the last two decades and their greatest achievement as part of Northamptonshire County Council has been to go nearly bankrupt!

Not a good track record for our local politicians.

The Liberal Democrat’s are the only ones so far, to have canvassed me by pushing a leaflet through my door. Sadly it’s full of platitudes and empty promises.

I am probably better sticking to potholes🤡

1 Response to May Elections?

  1. Like you John, I am bewildered, and look at the world, not through ‘rose coloured spectacles and a little hope and Joy, but with fear and in trepidation, for myself and my younger family.

At the age of 82/3 years what do I do? How do I influence those about me? Chat in person/express opinions? On a one- to- one basis that is possible, how- ever as a society member, I am still a registered voter, and I wish to ‘VOTE’, and whats more ever since my childhood my father and mother expressed the view that this was my duty after reaching the age of 18 years to vote in any local or general election, and if I did not vote! Then I had no rights to complain against either local government or central government rulings!!!!

Back to day, while I voted in the last UK General election, I find Parliament and the House of Lords, and COMMONS, at disarray with world politics? It is a difficult time, what with the confrontation in the middle east, the American View point on trade with the world as we know it, China/Russia/Japan and Europe, and South America and Africa. We I feel, that our immigration policies need careful management with respect as to why we my, feel obligated as a nation for a policy of immigration, with respect to housing and employment on the domestic front. It is complicated while we may support foreign nations for their beliefs, of feel frustrated for their citizens if the political scene within the/that nation is not in alignments with our beliefs, I ask the question[s] do we or are we respectfully required to provide immigration, or political funds for the policies being per sued within that nation.

I ask politely what would you/us/we fight for if drawn into conflict. Basically-bottom line- would one be prepared to die for ones belief’s and support the country that we live in???

Think hard, at 80 odd years I have done my bit, WE I am Committing our younger generation as I vote to that decision, and is this ‘RIGHT OR WRONG’ Am I barking up the wrong tree.

NOW I come to the May Elections in the UK. I believe they are ‘LOCAL ONES’ and affect us all in the local areas where we live! What we :I have the opportunity of doing is voting for my welfare, in the local suburb: However the political Parties in the local elections in my area also have affiliations with the Central GOVERNMENT in The House OF COMMONS, and while I can vote for my own benefits in life for the quality of life I may wish, I can also consider maybe  a protest vote against the existing majority party ruling the local council, which may unsettle the council decisions in the future, but also they my influence the National Political Parties with their view points and beliefs in the next General election, when ever that may take place.

For Me personally I am looking for persons/people’=Ladies/gentlemen’ of political beliefs-rich/poor/upper lower class/ educational awareness, who may promote respect, and commaradarie for their fellow citizens within the UK Nation, for an honourable set of beliefs dealing honestly and with compassion for the rest of the world society. NOT ONE UPMANSHIP, AND BUGGER THE REST OF YOU!!!!!
