HS2 has turned into a National disaster. Years behind schedule, it has already cost £40 billion and not a track has been laid yet. Because of spiralling costs, both ends of the line have been chopped off at least until 2050 and the extension to Leeds is cancelled altogether. The promised “ high speed” has been slowed down to walking pace because of tunnel air pressure or leaves on the line or something. The London terminus stops in North London rather short of where people wanted to go. Still the Government was pressing ahead. But, as the election draws nearer, conservative MP’s, whose constituencies are all along the route are beginning to worry about losing their seats.
But, Riski has a imaginative plan to solve all that. He can’t be seen to scrap HS2 because that would be too big a u-turn. He is going to build two new rail super hubs, at nightingale speed and nightingale cost. It should all be complete before the 2024 general election and save £BILLIONS, thereby getting the economy back on track rather than HS2.
An all new “Birmingham New Street Station” will be constructed at the end of Euston’s Platform 10. At a stroke this will reduce journey times to ZERO. You just get on the train standing at Platform 10, walk up the corridor and step off at Birmingham New Street. You just need imagination!
A twin superhub will be erected at Birmingham with a replica of Euston Platform10, for those wishing to travel the other way. Genius or what! The fare will be just the cost of a platform ticket.
No train drivers, no guards and no ticket collectors will be required, so they can all stay on strike indefinitely.
I know this all sounds a bit fanciful, but, it is about as realistic as the original plans for HS2 and as believable as most politicians promises ever are.
The £100 Billion saved by not building HS2 will be spent on “Riski’s Climate Change Plan”, which comes up next……….
Whoops!! we have been here before? The political world and ideals of the UK are in todays language =”WHAT”= Do we as citizens care for what of whom we vote for?
1 what are we defending as a nation?
2 who are the citizens of the UK?
3 Can one earn an honest living, and be paid for a days work, or are we all on handouts?
4 What is our current curriculum in education for the younger person? are they taught to be responsible/independent and community spirited, for a future life in the UK, and instructed, encouraged to debate issues that may affect them personally, and at polling time; encouraged to be responsible and vote for a government they may believe IN!!!
Enough I hear you say! I agree at 80 of age and a pensioner, I personally cannot influence those seeking power other than to vote!!!
It is very upsetting all these GREEN ISSUES CO2 contamination/global warming/ employment, and wealth, not nationwide but worldwide, do we all have to live in one place, or can we develop the world’s nations {without wars?} as having beliefs and a standard of living we as citizens believe we have in the UK??
I ASK WHAT IS MONEY??? Is it credit and honour and assets to be shared out to all of us? Or is it another word for trust, integrity, and consideration for others, other than the FEW?????
This I feel is repeated in our Palace of Westminster [The UK Parliamentary system} by the leaders of each of our UK Political parties: they are being individualistic, and not thinking of the well being of us the population of the UK-Voters- BRITEX struck a chord to me of why I was British, but its enactment has remained very limited, and not expressed to me how as a UK BRIT I live safely/ earn a living/and defend my homeland beliefs as a small island nation within EUROPE and Trade with the wider world??? OUR current government leaders are lost, as are the opposition parties as to what to offer us as individual citizens of the UK Nation a safe and secure future? We need to trade/feed ourselves/ heat or homes-energy polices/defend ourselves, as do are international neighbours, and for this reason the main purpose or ideology of a Election manifesto campaign should I believe be consideration towards others, and leadership on how we earn trust as a nation in this wide world of ours.
I may be mixed up, slightly muddled in the mind, but I will act responsibly and vote? Please can you consider the issues, and also vote, so we have a greater percentage voting than 50% in the next 2024 general election.
HS2 is in uproar, the chilterns where the rail link traverses them are just heaps of rubble!!
I thought when parliament first proposed H2 raillink from London to Birmingham Leeds it was to easy the air, road links to these centres of business saving travel time for the business world.
Now I wonder where this toy train set is going, the existing road/rail /air links to the midlands and the north of England. Will it be a fast super speed rail link, or another siding in british rails empire???
