Falling Edukashun Standards.

A recently published report by the OECD – Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development has shown that UK students are falling behind other European countries in terms of standards of literacy. This follows on from an earlier study that pointed to our dropping well behind in the world tables in mathematics.

So what is to be done?

Our decisive leader Sir Keyer Stammer has demanded “ACTION NOW!” The Education Secretary- Bridget Phillipson has announced a new challenging curriculum for both issues.

In primary schools all children will be required to recite the whole alphabet from A to Z before they can go to secondary school. Then at secondary school they must be able to rite a hole sendtnse before going to Universitty. Spelling mistakes don’t matter cause u can allways use spelcheque.

The new standard for maths is even higher. Before leaving primary school all students must be able to do the 1 x table at least up to 20. In secondary school you can just ask Siri, because nobody does numbers in the heads anymore.

These new demanding standards will once again elevate Britain’s students to their rightful position in the world rankings.

  1. At a mere 82 years, and reading this blog and all attaced blogs with their comments I am intreged!

    Looking at the press and media of the day, today! I find we have no national unified policies, we are just protesting at what ever we can?

    The UK is a nation of nations, do we have a common language, when one reads the and then lisyens to the media, We spout on in english, welsh, galic and irish, if one is lucky enough to protest maybe cornish maybe the language of tomorrow! Hurrah you may say, however how do we educate our offspring to under stand the word we live in from a point of view, of;- being able to talk and discuss our/their problems with all nations of the world? { Do we learn Russian-Chinese-Arabic-Swahelli, or those other languages that our swamping our shores vis the imigrants.- Is english or another european langage the tounge to be of our modern nation/I just wonder]

    Then we have numbers again Arabic/chinese and afew more! Is our times table the correct way to teach mathmatics today in the UK, Can we trade economicall and make a living, in this modern commercial world of all nations and languages say japanise, and american issiums and then spanish and portugues/ It is a nightmare Our London stock exchange/banks are all trading internationally, and the money comes from us, but who gets the benifit???? Our UK Taxes are our indebitness to the world and society in general.? so I believe,

    Now then reading lierature,a most basic of questions is the now A.I {artificial intelligence] written spoken off in english/american that our childen can understand? I have no hope at 80+ years, and I depend upon our younger generation to guide me through my passing years? I ask politely what is education, are we approaching econonics/language/the written word/ mathmatics and economics in the correct manner, can we survive as an anglo saxon british Nation in this modern world of ours. WE need honest hardworking and straight thinkers in our westminster parliament of today! Not nececcessary rebel rousers but straight thinking and honest politicicians.

    Bye Bye from this ragamuffin!!! LLLP;

  2. Have I forgotten the India sub continent with all its complxities of language and rules of living religions? Just another problem to add to the UK Nation.

  3. .Just a question from an old timer? Please? Have we as a society lost our way, and does the modern education society teach us respect for law and order, and our individual responsibilities towards our nation, in living honestly, earning a fair days wage for a fair days work, and then if we wish to protest complain do our duties! pay ones taxes, and such as voting in our local and general elections ( Being registered to Vote].

    I just wonder is the UK nation now full of residents who have only lived in the UK for a few years, and do not accept the rules and regulations of our society, but their customs of the local society they live within.

    What we need is a policy not of revolt or rebelion, but one of respect and responsibility for accepting the British way of Life, and education to all our new immigrants and travelers who may have the rights of domicilary and to register and then vote in our elections., so society within the UK can look outward, and not inward, castigating different sectors of our society.

  4. well well we are all back at school now, including the oldies! But wait a minite the Minister of educaion still has to speak, and what are his requests in this autumns budget? More talk, and less action, or his he pulling at the prime minister, for a new academic scenario, where children are taught english, pounds shilling and pence, and good manners to respect the elderly? I just wonder.

    The Universities are struggling to break even with their fees and costs incuured for their staff, and yet ! what are the targets of research for all our educated dons, is it to promote technology and earn a bob or two for the nation. Or is it the process where an academic studies and researches his favorite subject and personnally gains from their royalities.

    LOOKING BACK I am being dismisssive of the academics, however they do need guidance and leadership from the Minister of EDUCATION, and not POLITICALLY DOGMA,
