The posties are on strike today and for lots more days in the run up to Christmas. Stamps are costing more and more. A threepenny stamp now costs nearly a pound. That ought to be enough for a modest pay rise, but it looks like the strikes will go on.
The postal service is under threat from e-mails and parcel deliveries are now provided by just about everybody with a van. Post service managers have already axed the second post and are now suggesting moving the morning deliveries to the afternoon.
All in all the universal postal service which is a lifeline to so many people, needs a lifeline itself.

So I have decided to send a letter to Kirkaldy. I don’t know anyone in Kirkaldy, indeed I didn’t even know where Kirkaldy was until looked it up on Google Maps. So I will send it to Andy McDougal – there’s bound to be one somewhere in Kirkaldy. Jock, the postie will certainly know where he lives.
Now if everyone did this to different locations all over Britain this could save the postal service and the jobs of posties everywhere.
OH!!! Laddie!! do you have feelings for the sasanacks of KIRKALDY, in the province of that Lady Scottish prime Minister, lady, who may have offered a partial solution to all the political uprisings and strikes going on at the moment???
You kind sir have stirred the pot? in some areas where the solution is more nationalistic than common sense for us all as residents and citizens of Britain.
The press stating the army are in the hospital service, what as one may ask-trained staff, or support staff with compassion and feelings, I get the feeling from the press ‘NO ONE CAres’ any more and we are all independent fighting in our own homes and districts our support/care and well fare packages. WE have lost the authority and respect for government both local and central.
Kirkaldy is not the answer dear sir.
Dear oh dear. it is not Kirkcaldy by any other name? However Steven Torrance rules the roost here? and Nicola Sturgeon rules the roost in Glasgow South, so amongst the clans the mailman/postman has his her work cut out?
the electronic era? I wonder, there is nothing like a smile or a personal touchy feelingly when meeting some one and reading their facial expression!!! There again when reading the mind there is nothing so gratifying as a personal letter/card with its writings and scribbles again the red in ones mind eye their mental and physical attributes at the time of them writing their personal missive.> Other wise we are down to electronic gadgets, maybe a picture or two, but mainlly roman.italic script and a corrected texted!!! More alike an official document or BILL OF WORDS demanding our attention?? I feel nothing personal, just an officious communication.
