Positive Mental Attitude.

For the start of a new year I must get a big dose of PMA. Preferably the infectious variety, with an R number of SIXTY !

2022 was a year of relentless negative vibes. You name it and the media turned it into a bad news story, mainly because it was a bad news story. I am not blaming them, they are just reflecting the world around them. But do we have to have the story told over and over and over and over and over ……

No wonder so many people have “ mental health issues “. A never ending pandemic of the COVID variety; followed by a war in Ukraine; which then results in an energy crisis in the wider world. The knock-on effect of all these things is rapidly rising prices and inflation out of control. Resulting in strikes for more pay at a time when we are already heavily overdrawn. And I have not even mentioned the ever-growing NHS waiting lists; or climate change; or record unresolved crime levels. The huge tide of boat people still coming to our shores need to be told that the land of milk and honey is low on both milk and honey.

So where is the good news in 2023 ?

  • Well the flowers will still grow in the Spring.
  • We will have done our bit for climate change by not using so much energy ( even if we didn’t want to)
  • We will have cut back on spending ( because we didn’t go out so much)
  • The air will be fresher because there are less cars on the roads.
  • Our world will have slowed down and leave us with more time to reflect.

  1. Most revealing, I feel undressed, metaphorically, while practically I dance around the room in my ‘birthday suit’ ready with a tune in my head to dance with any partner or on my own. Reflecting gently in the related stories attached to this ramble around the living room, or within ones thoughts, there are many a truth written about, and John’s way of collecting all these opinions, expressed concerning the life or actual life by the older generation most enlightening, and JOHN;s working life and his passion for the elderly, I sincerely respect and thank him for his lifetimes work with the ‘elderly, of whom molly and i are now one.

  2. BOO! an ‘R’ Number, do I add it to my NHS Registered number? or is it a way of assessing my score 0-24 in the alzhmiers test? where ones mental response/reflex is recorded against a doctor or medical practitioner’s tests for the advancement of senile dementia. Great? Just Great??? While i can natter and think, i still believe I respond in a realist manner???

  3. my 80th. new year, mobile, soundish mind, and a few aches and pains, Finger inserted in fundamental orifice, and mind wandering like a cloud???
Can you put me back on earth?? i wonder???
Now then Noah lived to 150 years, was it? for a normal life the bible quotes 3 score and 10. In a perfect society can we improve the human body, and mind to survive for all of us to plus 100 years? If modern life with all its medicines and support can do this! THEN THE QUESTION I ASK IS? WHAT KIND OF WORLD SOCIETY WOULD WE ALL WISH TO LIVE IN AS A EUTOPIA, AND EQUALITY FOR ALL???
Just a thought for today, as the BBC Radio light programme used to ask/quote?

  4. Dear Oh! Dear!!! I am growing older. last night wednesday i watched our recording of the BBBc 1 Tv school drama-”waterloo ‘ [broadcast tuesday 3 jan 2023]. I am totally perplexed, and just wonder where the future story lines will go?
I never watched the earlier Waterloo [Road] Programmes, so this is my first introduction to an alleged comprehensive/Co-ED school and the possible educational challenges teaching Our Younger Generations how to be a good citizen, honest and caring?
I found this opening programme to my mind was ‘sensational, about colour/creed/nationality and respect for authority?
I trust in real life our children are being guided in all these current political/social issues, and that in later life when they have the vote, they become not realistic, but compassionate with feelings for all the societal groups in this nation of ours, and realise the value of an honest hard days work both for themselves their families and our society.

  5. Ack tha nue! or words to that effect, It is almost 25 January, and time to either noisily or respectfully, with friends to celibrate the actual roads and the miles to dundee, with a wee tot of whiskey, the prospects of 2023, while we listen to the blare of the bagpipes, as we all scoff neaps and tatties, and the earful of the words of BURNS.
    Lots of excitement?? Yipee!!!!!

  6. not off course forgetting the ‘haggis”

  7. it is the 1st of feb?? now then are you all as readers going to be my ‘valentine’???

  8. to who ever you are, ! I wish you a happy valentines day!!!
